Thank you for your interest in hosting a peer support group at your school. Common Ground works with school staff identify students who have experienced loss. In order to start a group at your school, 6 or more students must be enrolled.
School Groups Are:
8 weeks in length during the school day
Take place on the school campus
Facilitated by trained Common Ground Grief Peer Support Group Facilitators
Activity-based, age-appropriate groups that help children and teens express feelings, understand grief, and feel less alone in age-appropriate ways.
A space where participants can share openly, connect with others, and build coping skills in a supportive environment.
Requirements to hold a group at your school
Identify 6 or more students who are grieving the death of someone close to them.
A designated location at your school site to hold the support group.
Approval of administration or decision makers on your school campus.
A school staff to coordinate parent/guardian permission and conduct student intakes.
A 45-60 minute block of time during the school day to hold the group for 8 sessions.
Timing & Dates
School groups typically run 2 times a year for 8 weeks starting in October and March.
